Privacy, use and feedback

Updated 31 October 2026. Contact: [email protected].

Who runs the project

QSRecovery (Quiet Strength Recovery) is a founder-led resource project created by Chris Nugent. It brings together recovery writing and two free self-guided apps for adults aged 18 and over: Quiet Strength Recovery for personal recovery, and Quiet Sisters Recovery for partners, friends and family. Formal partnerships and longer-term organisational arrangements are being developed.

The website

Everything here is open to everyone: the film, the writing, the workbook downloads and both apps. There is no account and no sign-in. The website does not use advertising, tracking cookies or advertising analytics. The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes technical information such as your IP address and browser details to deliver the pages and protect the service.

The newsletter

If you would like new writing by email, you can subscribe to the QSRecovery newsletter on Substack. Substack runs that list under its own privacy policy. You never need to subscribe to use the apps or the workbook.

The earlier free subscription and comments

Until 31 October 2026 the website offered a free subscription with ChatGPT sign-in, and a page for public comments and star ratings. Both have ended. If you joined or posted feedback then, you can ask Chris to delete your details by emailing [email protected].

Your writing in the apps

Quiet Strength and Quiet Sisters encrypt workbook and journal entries on your device. The reviewed versions have no QSR cloud journal account or automatic upload of your writing. Opening an app still makes technical requests to its hosting provider.

Storage belongs to that browser or app. Your phone, browser or operating system can remove stored data. Keep an encrypted backup from Settings and remember the passcode used when it was made. Individual text or PDF exports are readable files, so keep them privately.

The downloadable workbook

Quiet Self Recovery is a free personal workbook by Chris Nugent, available as an A4 PDF and an editable Word file. These are readable files, separate from the apps' passcode and encryption. Keep your completed copies and photographs privately. The website does not ask for or automatically receive your workbook answers or photographs.

The workbook shares Chris's personal understanding and lived experience, not professional advice. Every exercise is optional, and sources and influences are acknowledged in the workbook.

Email and feedback

Chris receives the address, message and attachments you choose to email. Information is used to reply, handle your request or investigate a problem you report. Please keep feedback about using the apps and avoid sending private recovery records, passwords, full journal entries or unnecessary health information.

You can ask about a message you sent or request that it be deleted by emailing the project. Routine email is not a confidential counselling service and is not monitored for emergencies. Permission will be requested separately before identifiable feedback or your words are published.

Previously arranged app testing

Google Play work is paused. If you previously supplied a Google Play account email for testing, it may remain in the existing tester records and Console list. Those addresses are not displayed on this website. You can ask Chris to remove your address by emailing the project. The newsletter is separate from the earlier tester list.

What the tools offer

These are lived-experience peer-support and educational tools. They are not medical devices and do not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any medical condition or mental health disorder. They do not replace professional medical advice, counselling, psychotherapy, detoxification, safeguarding or emergency care. Consult a qualified healthcare professional for medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.

The apps do not monitor what you write, assess your risk or contact help for you. Use your own judgment, skip anything that feels unhelpful, and seek appropriate support when a need goes beyond an app.

Links to other organisations

Downloads, support resources, LinkedIn, Substack and YouTube open other services. Their own terms and privacy practices apply. Some app links open video search results; those results change and are not endorsements of every video.

Accessibility and problems

If text is hard to read, a control is difficult to use or something fails to save, please say which app and page you were using and what happened. You can use a fictional example. Do not include your passcode or private writing.

Urgent support

For immediate danger or a medical emergency in the UK, call 999. Samaritans is available on 116 123. NHS urgent mental-health guidance explains further options. Outside the UK, use local emergency or crisis services.
